It’s officially 2026, and I’m so excited for all the wonderful things this year will bring. Are you curious about how to set New Year’s Resolutions that will last? Well, good news! This blog is all about taking small steps toward lasting change.
Let’s be real… New Year’s resolutions are great in theory, but we often set our sights on making significant changes that eventually become too difficult or unrealistic to maintain.
About 64% of people give up on their New Year’s resolutions by January 31st, and the second Friday in January is known as “Quitter’s Day.”
Let’s change it up this year.
Introducing: Your SIMPLE routine to kick off the New Year with a few small, healthy habits!
These are 3 of my personal favorite habits that have made a significant impact on my overall well-being.
1️⃣ Journaling
Years ago, I got into the habit of journaling before bed and still do it to this day. When I first started, I used the 5-Minute Journal. (Highly recommend!)
Now I’ve transitioned to a simple Moleskine journal without lines. (Are you a line or no-line person?! It’s a big deal!)

I prefer to do my journaling at night to help calm my racing mind and quiet the mental chatter before bedtime, helping me fall and stay asleep. Anyone relate?!
This practice helps me reflect on my day and brings a sense of gratitude to my heart.
Currently, I journal nightly for about 10 minutes, followed by a quick meditation. However, I encourage you to start with just 5 minutes, just like I did, and build upon the habit over time!
2️⃣ Grounding
For those of you who have been reading my emails or blogs for a while, you know I’m a big fan of being barefoot. I’d prefer to never wear shoes if I could!
At least once per day, I make a point to step outside onto the grass barefoot for a few minutes.
It doesn’t cost me a dime and is super simple, yet the benefits are astounding.

Grounding helps to detoxify our system, reduce anxiety, and improve sleep quality (among other benefits) through the neutralizing of free radicals from the earth’s negative ions.
You can read more about the wonders of grounding in my other blog post, “Grounding: Five Reasons to be Outside and Barefoot.”
3️⃣ Prep Ahead of Time
We’ve all heard that quote: “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.” (Thanks, Benjamin Franklin!)
Regardless of the habit, prepping ahead of time can set you up for success to actually stick with it. Again, let’s start small. Pick just ONE habit to prep ahead of time to start.
I am currently focusing on prepping my supplements ahead of time since it’s such a core aspect of my overall health routine.

My Supplement Routine:
- HKHM SporeBiotic (probiotic)
- HKHM Kidz Digest
- HKHM Omega-3
- HKHM MultiVite+
- HKHM Advanced Magnesium
- HKHM Vit D3 + K2
- HKHM Immune Protect IgG
I prep my supplements for two weeks by placing them in small baggies so they’re ready to go, no matter where I am or if I am traveling.
I store the rest of my supplements in a basket that I keep in the cupboard so they are easily accessible (except the ones that need to be refrigerated).
