No Sick Days: How to Keep Kids Healthy at School

The new school year is right around the corner (or has already begun!) and that means books, homework, and sometimes a sick child. Around this time of year, I get a lot of quesitons from parents who want to know what I recommend to help keep kids healthy at school.

I can’t help with books or homework (sorry parents!). But what I can do is help give your child’s immune system the boost it needs to keep them in class and keep you free from the stress of having a sick kid at home!

A while back, we had a patient come in for their annual refresher. They happily reported that since starting their child on our foundational supplements (over a year ago), the only days of school the child missed the prior year were for a fun vacation… not a single sick day!

Let’s paint a picture… It’s a Tuesday afternoon in September. What kind of day would you rather be having?

Relaxed taking some “me time” or stressed juggling the demands of work with sick kids at home… No brainer right?

Our Foundational Supplements to Keep Your Kids Healthy at School

Good news! The path to a healthy school year is possible with our group of foundational supplements… but it takes time.

If you start now, you can make significant headway toward laying the foundation of good health for everyone in the house before the new school year begins. Here are my top back to school supplement recommendations:

HKHM Plantadophilus

Our best-selling HKHM Plantadophilus is a great place to start. It’s a gentle, yet robust probiotic that works even for the most sensitive stomachs.

Research shows that a healthy, diverse microbiome plays a key role in supporting a strong immune system.

HKHM Digestive Enzymes

Our plant-based HKHM Digestive Enzymes work synergistically with Plantadophilus to decrease gut inflammation and the amount of undigested food that otherwise remains in the gut.

Fully eliminating the undigested food particles in the gut provides an optimal environment for the beneficial bacteria to thrive, which contributes to deep, restorative sleep, improved focus, and the ability to remain calm.

HKHM Omega-3’s

The next step in our immunity-boosting foundation is HKHM Omega-3’s.

Omega-3 fats impact almost every system of the body because they make up part of our cell walls. They are critical for overall health, mood, and the immune system.

PSA: Unfortunately, your kiddo probably won’t get enough of these Omega-3’s from the fish sticks in their school cafeteria lunch (who wants to eat those anyway?).

HKHM MultiVite+

Last, but certainly not least, is HKHM MultiVite+. This unique formulation of essential minerals and vitamins helps your family meet the daily dietary recommendations (given our current food system).

HKHM Multivite+ also contains active B vitamins and mitochondria-supporting micronutrients for cellular energy production. It is also high in free-radical-fighting ingredients.

Talk about packing a punch!

HKHM Vitamin D3+K2

A growing body of research shows that when it comes to bone health, ensuring optimal intake of vitamin K is a critical piece of the puzzle. New research is focusing on the synergistic relationship between vitamin K (specifically, vitamin K2) and vitamin D3, especially in terms of bone strength and cardiovascular health. A group of naturally occurring and structurally similar, fat-soluble vitamins, vitamin K is essential for the proper utilization of calcium.

Our HKHM Vitamin D3+K2 is especially important in the winter time, when we’re not getting as much natural sunlight as we typically do during the warmer months.

I cannot stress this enough… please don’t procrastinate (on homework or your immune system!).

All of these supplements are included in our HKHM Foundation Supplement Bundle, making it easy to stock up! Starting these supplements now gives the body time to strengthen its immune system before facing the challenges of crowded classrooms.

We recommend starting supplements one at a time for 5-7 days before introducing the next one. This method allows us to change only one variable at a time so if there is a reaction, good or bad, we know which supplement the child (or adult) reacted to.
