Easy Homemade Healthy Summer Treats Your Family Will Love

It’s the 4th of July, it’s hot, and nothing hits the spot quite like a cold, healthy summer treat after a long day in the sun!

If you take a stroll down the frozen treat aisle in the grocery store and pick up just about any box of frozen treats, you’ll most likely see a myriad of ingredients, artificial colors, and, of course, a bunch of added sugar.

Thankfully, we can make alternative summer treats that aren’t terrible for us or terribly hard to make!

Here are a couple of short and “sweet” recipes for some tasty and easy-to-make treats that are sure to keep your family happy and healthy all summer long.

Fruit, blender, freezer, and these easy-release popsicle molds… that’s about all you need!

The silicone popsicle molds make a world of difference for ease and convenience during the busy summer months.

Watermelon-Strawberry Pops

3 ingredients, 3 steps, unlimited deliciousness!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of watermelon
  • 1 cup of strawberries (hulled)
  • Juice from half a lime (don’t skip this one, it really adds to the flavor!)

Simply combine the above ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth (think puree texture).

Then pour the blended mixture into your popsicle molds and freeze for at least 2 hours before enjoying!

Strawberry-Mango NICEcream

Here’s another great recipe with only 3 ingredients:

  • 12 oz frozen mangos
  • 8 oz frozen strawberries
  • 1 tbsp lime juice

Simply blend the ingredients together, making sure to pause after a minute or so to scrape down the sides and, if needed, add 1/4 cup of water as you blend.

This one is great served in a bowl immediately after blending.

This “nicecream” can be kept in your freezer for up to 3 months so you can also put those handy popsicle molds to use if you prefer to make this ahead of time.

Put the sorbet mixture into the popsicle molds, freeze, and serve throughout the summer. I recommend letting them sit at room temperature for a few minutes after pulling them out of the freezer.
